African Heritage Language Classes

Diaspora children building a connection to their roots through language learning

At Abugida Education, we believe language is one of the deepest ways a child stays connected to their roots. Our Heritage Language program is designed specifically for diaspora children and teens who want to build real fluency in their family's language , not just memorize vocabulary but also understand the culture, history, and identity woven into every word. Through structured, level-based lessons spanning foundational literacy (mastering the fidel, everyday communication) all the way to advanced grammar, literature, and cultural history, students progress at a pace that matches their age and starting point, whether they're just beginning or building on language they already speak at home.

We go beyond textbook learning to make the journey engaging and personal. Lessons incorporate pronunciation and audio practice, cultural storytelling, and rich historical context from proverbs and poetic traditions to pivotal moments in history so students don't just learn the language, they come to love it. Our goal is simple: to help the next generation of the diaspora speak, read, and connect with their heritage confidently, and to carry that connection forward for the rest of their lives.
