Our coaches are native speakers who know how diaspora kids learn: lots of listening, a gentle push to speak, and lessons that connect the language to the family and community your child already knows.

Common questions
What is the best way for a child in the US to learn Amharic?
Regular live classes with a native speaker, plus a little practice between classes, work best. Abugida pairs children with a native-speaking Amharic coach for weekly online classes, 1-on-1 or with siblings, and offers a self-paced Amharic app for practice.
My child understands Amharic but won’t speak it. Can you help?
Yes, this is the most common starting point for diaspora kids. Coaches start from what your child already understands, build speaking confidence through conversation and stories, then add reading and writing in the fidel.
At what age can my child start Amharic classes?
Children can start as soon as they can follow a short video lesson, and lessons are adapted for teens too. Young children start with sounds, songs and fidel recognition; older kids move faster into reading and conversation.
Do Amharic classes teach reading and writing the fidel?
Yes. Students learn the fidel row by row, with each consonant’s seven vowel orders, then read and write words, sentences and short stories.
How much do online Amharic classes cost?
Pricing depends on 1-on-1 or small-group format and how often your child meets; you get a clear quote in the free consultation. Small groups of siblings or cousins lower the price per child, and each sibling gets 5% off.
