Why it works

Built for competence, mastery and a global future

Abugida Education teaches every subject from its own proven, in-house curriculum for grades 3–12. Developed and tested in our 1-on-1 classes, it builds real competence and mastery through learning by doing, so students can compete with peers anywhere in the world.

Competence and mastery

Students move on when they can explain an idea and use it on a problem they have not seen before, not when the chapter ends.

Learning by doing

Every lesson is active: students solve, build, test, write and present, with a mentor coaching them live.

Globally competitive

Each grade builds the depth, independence and confidence students need to compete for top schools and universities anywhere in the world.

The curriculum, subject by subject

What your child learns from grade 3 to grade 12

One connected curriculum, so each year builds on the last. Your child starts at the level they have mastered, not the grade on paper.

Number sense, multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, measurement, geometry and word problems
Grades 6–8
Ratios and percents, negative numbers, pre-algebra and Algebra I, geometry, data and probability
Grades 9–12
Algebra II, geometry and trigonometry, precalculus, statistics, and calculus to AP and IB level

Learning by doing: Students model real situations, such as a family budget, a recipe or a sports statistic, and explain every step out loud.

Science

Grades 3–5
Living things, matter, forces, Earth and space, through simple experiments at home
Grades 6–8
Life, physical and earth science, the scientific method and lab reports
Grades 9–12
Biology, chemistry and physics, including AP and IB courses and research projects

Learning by doing: Students run experiments with things found at home, record their data and defend their conclusions.

English Language Arts

Grades 3–5
Reading fluency and comprehension, grammar, spelling and paragraph writing
Grades 6–8
Literature, vocabulary, essays, research skills and public speaking
Grades 9–12
Literary analysis, argument and research writing, SAT and ACT reading and writing, and admissions essays

Learning by doing: Students read whole books, write for real readers and present their ideas, with written feedback on every piece.

Computer Science and Coding

Grades 3–5
Logic and block-based coding in Scratch: games, animations and stories
Grades 6–8
Python, web pages with HTML and CSS, and algorithmic thinking
Grades 9–12
Python and Java, JavaScript, data, and AP Computer Science A and Principles

Learning by doing: Students learn each concept by building something that runs: a game, a website or an app they designed.

Social Studies

Grades 3–5
Communities, maps and geography, and stories from world history
Grades 6–8
World history and civilizations, including Africa’s great kingdoms, geography and civics
Grades 9–12
World and US history, government, economics and source-based essays

Learning by doing: Students work from maps, primary sources and debates, and connect history to their own family’s story.

Heritage Languages

Foundations
Letters or fidel, sounds, everyday words and songs
Conversation and literacy
Speaking with confidence, reading and writing short texts, and culture
Fluency and culture
Grammar, literature, proverbs, poetry and history

Learning by doing: Students speak from the first class, through stories, role play and conversation with a native-speaking coach.

Learning by doing

How every lesson turns into mastery

Children remember what they do, not what they watch. Each topic moves through the same five steps, and your child moves on only once they can explain it and use it.

  1. Start with a real problem

Each topic opens with a question or task worth solving, so your child sees why it matters.

  2. Try it, with a coach

Your child works the problem live while the mentor asks questions instead of handing over answers.

  3. Explain it back

The mastery check: your child explains the idea in their own words and solves a problem they have not seen.

  4. Apply and build

Homework turns the idea into something real: a project, an experiment, a program or an essay.

  5. Review until it sticks

A monthly quiz brings back earlier topics, so skills last instead of fading after the test.

Questions homeschooling parents ask

Still deciding? Tap Ask Abugida, or message us on WhatsApp.

Does Abugida Education have its own homeschool curriculum?

Yes. Abugida Education has a proven, in-house curriculum for every core subject from grade 3 to grade 12: math, science, English language arts, computer science and coding, social studies and heritage languages. It was developed and tested in our own 1-on-1 classes, and a dedicated mentor teaches it live online.

Can Abugida be my child’s full homeschool curriculum?

Yes, subject by subject. You can use Abugida as the complete curriculum for math, science, English, coding, social studies or a heritage language, or keep the curriculum you already use and bring in a mentor for the subjects that are hardest to teach at home, such as upper-level math, chemistry or coding.

What does learning by doing mean at Abugida?

It means your child learns by solving, building, testing, writing and presenting, not by watching and copying. Mentors coach live and move on only when your child can explain the idea and use it on a new problem, which is how the curriculum builds competence and mastery.

Do you work with homeschooling families outside the United States?

Yes. Abugida works with homeschooling families in the US and Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa, with local pages for London, Rome, Sydney, Melbourne, Cape Town, Nairobi, Lagos and Mauritius. Every class is live online and scheduled in your local time zone, and prices are in US dollars.

What grades does the homeschool curriculum cover?

Grades 3 to 12, roughly ages 8 to 18. Each student starts at the level they have actually mastered, which the free consultation and first class find, rather than simply at their age or grade.

How much does homeschooling with Abugida cost?

1-on-1 STEM lessons start at $80 a month (USD), with 5% off for each sibling, and your exact plan depends on the subjects and how often your child meets, which you settle in a free consultation. On-Demand Homework Help is $10 for a 30-minute session.

How do I keep homeschool records with Abugida?

Every family gets homework grades with written feedback, a monthly quiz and a monthly parent report, and every class is recorded for 7 days. Together they give you a clear record of learning for a homeschool portfolio or review.

Will my homeschooled child be ready for university?

That is what the curriculum builds toward. High school students can add SAT and ACT prep, AP and IB support, and admissions coaching from Ivy League alumni for universities in the US, Canada and Europe, and recent Abugida students are heading to Princeton, Brown, Carnegie Mellon and the London School of Economics.
