Why “Abugida”?
Named for the first letters a Habesha child learns
An abugida is a writing system where every character pairs a consonant with a vowel. The word itself comes from the Ge’ez letters አ ቡ ጊ ዳ. Like the script, our lessons pair two things: rigorous academics and the culture your child carries with them.

How much does online tutoring with Abugida Education cost?
Pricing depends on the subject, the mentor and how often your child meets, and you get a clear quote in the free consultation. Recurring weekly plans and small-group language classes lower the price per session, each sibling gets 5% off, and On-Demand Homework Help is a flat $10 for a 30-minute session.
Which African languages do you teach?
Native-speaking coaches teach Amharic, Tigrinya, Afaan Oromo, Ge’ez, Swahili and Yoruba, and Arabic and French are also available. Classes run 1-on-1 or in small groups, from first letters to advanced reading, grammar and culture. Ask about other languages in your free consultation.

How are students matched with a mentor?
Abugida matches each student with a mentor based on personality, learning style, subject, grade and schedule, not just availability. Students stay with the same mentor for about two years on average, and you can switch mentors at no extra cost if it isn’t a good fit.
Do you offer in-person tutoring?
No. Abugida Education is fully online, so families in any US state or Canadian province get the same mentors without a commute. Classes are live over video with a shared digital whiteboard.
